The Journal of Circassian Studies is an academic journal in development at the Center for Circassian Studies. It is envisioned as a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary publication dedicated to research on Circassian history, culture, memory, diaspora, language, politics, and contemporary issues.
The journal aims to support the development of Circassian studies as a serious interdisciplinary field. It will provide a platform for original research, source-based scholarship, theoretical reflection, methodological discussion, book reviews, review essays, and documentation-oriented work. The journal will encourage contributions from history, anthropology, sociology, political science, memory studies, genocide studies, diaspora studies, cultural studies, linguistics, digital humanities, and related fields.
The purpose of the journal is not only to publish work on Circassians, but to strengthen the scholarly infrastructure of the field. Circassian studies remains dispersed across languages, disciplines, archives, and communities. A dedicated journal can help bring this work into dialogue, support higher standards of evidence and citation, and create a recognised space for academic exchange.
